In December 2021, Elizabeth Quintanilla presented her workshop “How to build a WordPress website in just one hour?” an easy way to get started with your own business website. What a promise for the workshop visitors in the IncubatorCTX to get involved and excited about.
Elizabeth introduced GoDaddy as a domain registrar including the big advantage to have US based support for your website, what makes it so much easier to have quality support if needed. The GoDaddy library also has a lot of prefinished layout packs that makes it simple for you to pick a layout frame for your website you can start with and customize for your needs. Pages like “About Us” and “Contact Us” are already set up. Just pick and keep what you like or adjust to your ideas. But GoDaddy can be slow…. Maybe you want to check out another product as well, like Bluehost. Keep in mind: You can change your host any time you want!
Next step: You pick your hosting plan. You have different choices to make it work for your business.
Now you install and open the WordPress website, get started on the Dashboard and add a new theme. Once you are done with the theme – hit the customize button and get started with your own content: pictures, text, videos. You name it.
After activating the plug in – you might want to check out “Yoast SEO” as an independent plug in company. SEO for everyone! – You are on your way! But be careful! The more plug ins you have on your website, the slower it will be!
Sure, there is more to change and add to your website. Just play around. Once finished, hit publish!
Now, if you are ready for building your own WordPress website, but couldn’t make it to the workshop? You can schedule a free 30 minute consultation with Elizabeth and will get a lot of helpful information and tools how to get started.
